Microsoft has outlined its release schedule for the forthcoming Windows 8 operating system.
According to Redmond Channel Partner Magazine, the operating system will be released to manufacturing (RTM) in the first week of August, with a launch date scheduled for October 26th.
Microsoft CFO and VP Tami Reller announced the dates this morning at this year’s Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference.
“Windows 8 is simply the biggest deal from our company in 17 years,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in the pre-amble to the announcement.
Update: Apparently, enterprise customers who utilise volume licensing will be able to acquire the new OS from August.
